Snap’s AR Glasses Pop-Up Debuts at Westfield Century City

Los Angeles shoppers are about to get an early, hands-on look at the next wave of wearable tech. SPECS Inc., the augmented-reality glasses brand owned by Snap Inc., is opening its first-ever retail pop-up at Westfield Century City, running from October 2, 2026 through January 15, 2027.

The pop-up marks a notable moment for the Century City retail corridor, which has increasingly become a proving ground for tech brands looking to put products directly in front of shoppers rather than relying solely on online demos. For SPECS, an in-person launch makes particular sense: the glasses are built around a see-through waveguide display and a 51-degree field of view, features that are much easier to appreciate in person than through a product video.

Visitors to the pop-up will be able to try on the glasses, which feature Swiss TR90 polymer frames and open-ear stereo speakers, and get a feel for capabilities like turn-by-turn navigation, live translation, video playback, gaming, message reading, and measurement tools. The shop will also let customers pre-order a pair ahead of wider availability. Admission is free, and the space opens to the public with extended hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on its first day.

For the broader LA business community, the opening is a small but useful signal. Century City’s retail mix has leaned heavily on fashion and dining in recent years, and a consumer electronics brand choosing that specific mall for its debut pop-up suggests confidence in the area’s foot traffic and its appeal to shoppers willing to spend on new tech. It’s also a reminder that AR and wearable hardware, long confined to trade shows and tech conferences, are increasingly finding their way into everyday shopping centers.

Small and mid-sized business owners nearby may want to keep an eye on the pop-up’s run through mid-January. Pop-up retail has become a go-to strategy for brands testing a market before committing to a permanent lease, and a strong showing at Century City could mean more experiential tech retail following in West LA. For nearby restaurants, retailers, and service businesses, a few months of extra mall traffic is worth planning around, whether that means extending hours, running a nearby promotion, or simply being ready for curious shoppers who wander over after trying on a pair of AR glasses.
